NFL THANKSGIVING PREVIEW: What To Look For

The NFL & Thanksgiving is back with TWO games this afternoon.

We start in Detroit, where the Lions’ outlook in the 2020 season is bleak. With a 13-28 record over his three seasons with the Lions, Matt Patricia looks to be on his last leg. Just last week, the Carolina Panthers broke their five-game losing streak by starting a backup quarterback & shutting out Detroit’s offense (not good). They will face the Texans today, who are in an overvalued spot.

Since 2003, there have been 181 teams that were road favorites after being home underdogs in the previous game - the Texans were +3 at home vs. the Patriots in Week 11 & are now 3-point favorites at Detroit today.

Those teams have gone 79-96-6 against-the-spread.

Also, teams that have been shutout since 2015 are 20-5-2 in their following game - the Lions were shutout last week in Carolina.

We have no official play in this game, but all initial metrics point to a Lions cover.

In the later game, the winner of the Washington Football Team & Dallas Cowboys will sit atop the NFC East (with a 4-7 record).

The last time these two teams played, Washington absolutely dominated the Cowboys, holding them to just three points & 142 yards on offense. In this game, the Football Team will look to get to Andy Dalton, a strategy that has been extremely successful throughout Dalton’s career.

The Dallas Cowboys are 1-8 against-the-spread over the last nine Thanksgiving games, & our team will be looking for this to move to 1-9 L10 years.
